As a general indication you should allow 6-8 weeks from order sign-off to installation. Leadtimes will vary by product type and will depend on the number of orders we have at that time. If you have a particular deadline you require your products installed by, please ensure you communicate this up front.

We also get quite busy from October leading up to Christmas, so leadtimes can extend to much greater lengths, so we would recommend to get your order in really early if you have a project you wanted to get done before the summer holiday season.

The process can vary significantly based on the project complexity.

We suggest you allow up to one week for us to quote. If you only want one or two windows, this will be a quick turn around and we could have the quote back to you the same day. But, if you have a full house lot of windows and doors and want variations of your quotes, this will take us longer.

Then once you have signed your order, product supply could take around four weeks, and if you require installation, you may have to wait another few weeks on top of that. This does depend on the amount of orders we have in the system and also on what time of year you are planning your project. October through to December is our busy period, so we advise you to allow up to 6-12 weeks depending on the nature of your order and services required.

Installation costs will vary depending on the type of installation, materials used, and labour involved.

As a general guide, you could expect that the install portion of the quote be approx. $3,000 a typical window or door replacement, but becomes more cost effective when replacing 2, 3 or more products.

The other thing to note is what you will be saving money in the long term by using Stegbar. You will reduce any costs that your builder would add to order to manage the process; you will also be assured that the work will be done to Australian Standards, therefore have peace of mind that all products will be installed in your project is being done by trained professionals that know how to do the job properly.

We include brick cutting for sill bricks. Any painting, structural and brickwork will need to be completed by you or your builder after install.

Our timber range of windows and doors is available with a pre-primer to help protect the timber. Be sure to ask at the time of placing your order for a quote on pre-priming if you intend to paint your windows and doors.

We do not paint any windows or doors, architraves or walls that may require doing so after installation.

We do not offer sash only replacements for existing windows as we we cannot guarantee our sashes are the same profile as the existing products. We will replace the entire window frame and sash; or door frame and panels.

It is up to you to remove and replace your window furnishings. Please ensure they are removed prior to our booked installation date.

It is important to note that after the new window and door products are installed, there maybe a change in the overall dimensions of the frame and window opening. So we cannot advise or guarantee your existing window fixtures will fit.

No, we do not install windows and doors from other suppliers, our installation service is for Stegbar windows and doors only.

It is important that you look after your Stegbar products in order to maintain the warranty and also to ensure a lifetime of good looks and functionality. Here are some pre-installation guidelines to help you keep your Stegbar products in tip top condition:

• Always store windows and doors upright in a dry area out of exposure from the weather.

• Timber windows and doors can be irreparably damaged from being exposed to the weather, defects due to moisture content which falls below 10% or for moisture content which exceeds 15% are not covered by your warranty.

• If storage of timber windows and doors is likely to exceed 14 days, it is recommended to seal all surfaces and edges beforehand to protect the product.

• Aluminium windows and doors with unprimed reveals should be primed before installation into a cavity brick construction to avoid moisture absorption, or if storage is likely to exceed 14 days, it is recommended to seal all surfaces and edges beforehand to protect the product. Window reveals which have not been protected from the elements within two weeks of being delivered to site will not be covered by your warranty.

• Do not store or move frames in a way that alters the square positioning of the frame.

Keep the protective film (if fitted) on your product for as long as possible. However, the adhesive protective film should be removed within 90 days of delivery. 

Protect window and door surfaces from mortar, brick cleaning acid and plaster. Wash away any spillage immediately or permanent damage will result. Failure to protect windows from any mortar, brick cleaning acid or plaster will void the warranty. 

1. Fix through exposed timber with hot dip galvanised steel, 300 series stainless steel or silicone bronze fixings only.
   
   
2. Install frames square with sashes closed. Check diagonals for squareness; brace where required; and ensure frames are not twisted. Check that the sill is straight and level, front to rear.
   
   
3. Correctly wedge at all frame member joints without bowing, back nailing where possible.
   
   
4. A minimum of 3 fixings are required per jamb, sill and head. Additional fixings required for frames larger than 2100mm in height or width and in high wind locations. 
   
   
5. Allow 10mm clearance between window sill and external sill bricks on brick veneer construction.
   
   
6. Allow minimum of 20mm head clearance as frames are not load-bearing. Bi-fold windows and doors are top hung and the head must be fixed to a structural support. Refer to Stegbar installation instructions for external bi-fold doors.
   
   
7. In timber frame construction, recheck that sill and head are straight and level prior to fixing architraves. 
   
   
8. After installation remove racking braces where fitted.
   
   
9. Do not slide planks or tread on window frames. Protect door jambs and sill during construction.
   
   
10. Protect all surfaces from brick cleaning acid, mortar, plaster etc. Wash away any spillage immediately or permanent damage will result.

It's the builders responsibility to:

• Ensure that flashing is fitted to sill, jambs and head.
  
  
• Install windows and doors to meet site wind loading and AS1288 glazing requirements. 
  
  
• Install bushfire windows and doors according to AS3959 requirements.
  
  
• Remove protective film from glass within 90 days of delivery.
  
  
• Make operating adjustments to windows and doors prior to hand-over.
